Worked overtime today $$$$$$. The other regular carrier is on leave so I get to work my days off. Today and tomorrow. I like the money but miss the time off. That`s life.

What a gorgeous day today. Almost 60 degrees and sunny all day. Almost made it nice to be delivering the mail.
I`m off to an American Legion meeting tonite. More tomorrow.

While I was home for lunch, a lady called me looking for donations for some charity or the other. I don`t think I even paid attention to what it was. Anyway, she began by explaining something and I said I didn`t want to subscribe to anything. Oh no, she said that`s not it at all. We would like your help. Can you donate $70.00. I told her that I couldn`t donate anything and was not interested. On she went-blah,blah blah, how about $40. I told her I wasn`t interested and to please take me off thier call list. On she went,blah,blah, blah how about $31. I told her again to remove me from thier list and had to hang up because she was still going on and on. How can anyone politely refuse to donate when these people won`t listen? Soooo frustrating.

7. Only in America...do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.

8. Only in America...do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

9. Only in America...do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.

10. Only in America...do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering

Well, the earth sure shook here yesterday. I was sitting here drinking my coffee when it happened. I had been through a few earthquakes before, when I was in California, so I was pretty sure what it was. My wife had me check the furnace just the same. Everyone I talked to while delivering the mail yesterday also said they checked thier furnaces. I had a few things fall over in our upstairs bedroom. Nothing broken thank goodness.
We are back to seasonal temperatures. In the 30`s at night and lower 50`s during the day. It is more comfortable when delivering the mail. I don`t care for the real hot stuff.
