The final carrier brought in 265 pounds for a grand total of 2112 for today. The only help to show up was retired letter carrier Ron Williamson and my kids, Tiffany and Shawn. I thank them tremendously as it`s a real job carrying all that food down into the basement of the Catholic Church.

Gorgeous day today. It`s getting real windy now. The sun is shining brightly. I spent the better part of the day just goofing off. Talked to a friend of mine about setting up a web site for a fund raiser that I am a part of. For the past 13 years I have been involved with raising funds to help research find the cure to Cystic Fibrosis. My brother David has a granddaughter with CF. The last 9 years we have been holding a 3 day weekend fundraiser in July. We raise over $50,000 annually. We enjoy being a part of this great event.

Food drive cards went out today. Looking to break the Bristol record of 2300 pounds. We have lots of posters out and some real great wooden signs made by Tom Gould in Burlington. I`m hoping that the local Sons of the Legion troop will help. We need to carry the food down a flight of stairs. Gets pretty tiring when there`s only a couple of people doing all the work.
Another nice day. Sunny all day with temps in the low 60`s. They predict rain for tomorrow. Oh well, this is Vermont. If you don`t like the weather, wait a minute.
Glad they have the pipe-bomb suspect in custody. No one needs all the worry that guy caused.

Today is my wife Jean`s birthday. I won`t say her age but she said she felt "old" this morning. The kids and I gave her a few things and we all went out to supper at Rosie`s in Middlebury,VT. Rosie`s gives you a free meal on your birthday. The food is fabulous. If ever in the area, be sure to try it out.
Nice and warm today. Not a lot of sun but warm.

Another wonderful day. Over 70 degrees. Sunny all day. Getting a little hazy now. Put out several posters for the Letter Carrier food drive on Sat. All collections go to the Have-a-Heart food shelf in Bristol. I know it`s a major function of the NALC but I think a big THANK YOU needs to go to the rural carriers. In our town, they bring in at least 50% of our collection. Not enough is said about thier help. Of course, in the larger cities, there aren`t that many rural carriers so little is said. We sure appreciate the help here.

What a day today. Sunny and near 70 degrees. Just fabulous. I hope it continues into the work week. Got lots of outside work done. Mowed the grass, cut a few trees and built a fence to keep our dogs in. All tired out now.
