Beautiful day here in Vermont. Sunny and warm. Near 80. Predictions are for near 90 tomorrow. Summer remains.
I`ve been eating tomatoes and cucumbers from my garden like crazy.I had an excellent crop this year. I still can`t keep up. I`ve given lots away. Still alot more to ripen. Hope they all make it before the first frost. That could come anytime. It got down to about 40 the other night.
Speaking of the weather(weren`t we?) did anyone see the movie The Perfect Storm? I watched it the other night and a scene in that movie solidified my thoughts about weather people. They really enjoy giving us bad news. The meteoroligist in the movie was overjoyed that 3 storms were coming together to form "The Perfect Storm". I think I remember him saying something like "It`s what all meteoroligists live for." Oh well, I live for peace in the world.

Had today off as I worked last Saturday so Mike could throw his shoes. Horseshoes of course. I`m not sure how he made out but I know he had a good time. He always does. He`s not the type to take it too hard when he loses. He just enjoys the sport.
Will work tomorrow. Hope we`ve caught up after the holiday. It takes a few days to catch up with the heavy mail. Maybe now we`ll be back to normal.

To everyone with school-age kids:
Wouldn`t it be nice if:
it were cool to be on the honor roll.
kids would say NO to cigarettes, sex and drugs.
kids wanted to be at school and we could be sure they were.
teachers were able to teach and not be referees or sitters.
As long as there are trouble makers and parents that just don`t care, I guess that can`t happen.

Another Labor Day has come and gone. Back to work tomorrow. I dread it as we are always over loaded with mail after a holiday. I will go in a half-hour early as there will be mail ready for me to case. Some of the clerks go in at 5:00AM after the holiday to sort. I stopped by today and there was already 3 post-cons and a hamper of mail. There will be more in the morning. A longer day tomorrow.
Sitting on my porch today, watching the traffic go by and I notice how fast some people go. I live on a main highway leading into Bristol. The speed limit is 30mph. I am about the third house after entering the heavier populated area. There are several kids in the area. Anyway, some of the cars are going real fast. Lots of them are tourist(out of state plates) but alot of them aren`t. Locals don`t obey the limit either. What really bothers me are the people speeding by with plates that indicate that they are rescue personel or fire department people. They are not on the way to an emergency so why do they need to go so fast. It boggles my mind. If they lived where I do, and had children like I do, they would probably have the same concerns that I have. Maybe not, but I bet they would.
