The last 3 days have been beautiful. Today got up to 60 degrees. I worked all day in a short sleeved shirt. Boy was it great. The rest of the week is supposed to be cooler. Not extremely cold but not as warm as the past few days. It sure is nice to have it warmer. The maple sugar makers are happy. They are finally getting a sap run and can begin making that super sweet Maple Syrup. I hope that it`s not a really short season for them. They have waited long enough for the run to start. They deserve a good long season. That means cold nights and warm days. I can put up with that. Lord knows we`ve put up with enough cold this winter.
The rural mail carriers count ended on Saturday. They are all optimistic that they will see an increase in hours. It does seem like there was more volume than last year. And of course, last year was only 2 weeks while this year it was 4 weeks. I think that will make a difference. Our Postmaster is retiring the first of April. We will probably get an officer in charge until someone is named to take his place. I certainly hope we don`t get some young, by-the-book upstart that will subject us to being under his thumb. This is a smaller office but it`s still large enough so that it will probably be taken by a veteran postal employee that won`t be so rigid that we can`t work together. I hope so. We have a very good office here. We get our work done and don`t have many hassles. I hope it can stay that way.
