I have the week off and wouldn`t you know it, it`s going to rain for at least the first two days. Yesterday was okay but today and tomorrow, rain is predicted. It`s raining out right now. At least I`m not out there delivering the mail. Of course, I`m not accomplishing much stuck here in the house either.
We had the Letter Carriers annual food drive on Saturday. Our little town of Bristol donated around 1600 pounds of food. That`s about 600 pounds less than last year. I guess we need to promote it more. This is the first year that I`ve been doing it that we`ve had help getting the food from the Post Office to the food shelf. We usually have to transport it and then carry it all down the stairs to the food area. This year, a nice gentleman from the food shelf provided the transportation and the help. We also discussed how we could increase the donations for next year. We need to get the word out through hewspapers and church bulletins. We do send out postcards to everyone in town but maybe this year we delivered them early. We put them out on Wednesday. I think next year we should deliver them on Friday. The food shelf needs donations so I`m sure they will do all they can to help. Hope so anyway.
